Extended Work Placements - 1 or 2 day a week
EBP West Berks also organise 'extended' work experience placements which give young people aged 14 to 18 year old a schedule of one or two days per week, over an academic year, in a work environment. This is often supported by a day in college and an individual school timetable.
The aims of the placements are more extended and more focussed on specific outcomes than the one or two week block placements. Students investigate specific aspects of the world of work for their sixth form qualifications and/or practise vocational skills. The focus of these extended work placements is to provide a motivational experience for the young person so it is important to keep them engaged.
As in the case of the one or two week block placements, EBP West Berks provide comprehensive support to both the student and the employer both before and during any placement to ensure that maximum benefit is drawn from the experience.
EBP West Berks is always looking for more local employers who would be interested in taking a student on an extended work placement throughout the year.
