Hosting Events
Our work is all about bringing schools and business together and creating productive partnerships between the two. One of the best ways to do this is to actually hold a student event out of school - ie in the workplace.
We often ask businesses to host a small group of students on their premises to work on a challenge relating to the business' sphere of work - this could be a vocationally focussed challenge relating to the curriculum for business studies, ICT, leisure & tourism or geography etc.
The students really appreciate the opportunity to actually undertake these activities in a real context - it makes the whole experience more exciting and engaging and ultimately more beneficial.
Each challenge is set jointly between the business and school and is devised to be a creative and practical experience where students work directly with and in the business environment.
The hosting businesses also benefit.
Hosting feedback from previous events:
- The event was easy to run with very few problems and the students worked well together (Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service)
- There was a great sense of achievement by all for having done something different for a school day (Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service)
- Good support provided by the EBP (Barclays Bank)
- The groups worked with confidence and enthusiasm, in turn producing some excellent and exciting ideas which will give us plenty to think about over the next few months. (Yattendon Estates)
- The students were very well behaved and interested, a pleasure to have (Regency Park Hotel)
