Business

The West Berkshire business community has proved itself to be one of the most supportive in the country in terms of its links with schools and the college. Corporate community involvement is increasingly on the business radar and one of the most effective ways to be a good corporate citizen is by giving back to the local community where employees and families live, work and study.

As a result, local employer supported volunteering, gifts in kind, donations and sponsorship are no longer viewed as optional 'add ons' but increasingly form an integral part of a company's vision and values and as a means to develop their own staff. Plus the opportunity for local business to work with local schools and develop a business sense and confidence in today's 14 - 18 year olds can only help to shape the skills set of tomorrow's school leavers and potential future employees.

We are proud to number among our partners a diverse range of organisations from multinationals Bayer and Vodafone through to smaller businesses such as Sheepdrove Organic Farm who all give their time and skills with enthusiasm.

Each year, through our Employer Awards scheme, we celebrate the full sweep of our business supporters' activities such as reading with primary school children, running challenge events, taking students on work experience, being involved in mentoring schemes, acting as judges and developing management skills with sixth formers.

But we still need to extend the range of our business partners. As our work becomes better known there are increasing numbers of students and teachers to engage with. So if you are a local business who has not yet worked with EBP West Berks and would like to know more please contact us. You will not regret it!
