    Work Experience Celebration Evening 2010

    On Tuesday 2nd March 2010 the Education Business Partnership West Berkshire held its annual Work Experience Celebration Evening at the Regency Park Hotel in Thatcham.

    Each year in excess of 2000 local students participate in the Work Experience programme with the support of local employers, and this year the EBP awarded prizes to students from many of the secondary schools in the area.

    The Mayor of Newbury Kuldip Singh Kang attended the event and presented certificates to the students. Awards were given to 14 Pre and Post 16 students for their achievements on work experience. There was also a winner for the best log book, who was Calum Campbell from Park House School who went to St Nicholas Church.

    Awards were also made to World of Work students Lewis Craig from Little Heath School and Ben Davey from Park House School. World of Work is a programme which is designed to help young people prepare for the working environment. This is achieved in a range of ways from mentoring, work experience and activity days.

    Hartwood Oak Buildings presented an award to their best work experience student for 2008/09, who was Richard Hunt from The Clere School.

    The evening included fantastic presentations by a student, Rolf Choutan from Mary Hare Grammar School and an employer Alec MacIndoe from Newbury and Crookham Golf Club.
