    West Berkshire Students Think BIG!

    Date issued: 20/07/10

At the Think BIG! Grand Final last week, students from three West Berkshire schools had the opportunity to present their wacky and creative ideas to panel of judges. Each team had to come up with a new service or a product for the year 2060 and work on a sales/marketing and business plan. The panel of judges who kindly volunteered their time were John Hampson from the Newbury Weekly News, Cliff Culver from Hilton and Kate Lefever from Goodmans.

The Grand Final, kindly hosted by the Hilton Newbury Centre, was the culmination of a series of in-school events organised by the Education Business Partnership West Berkshire.

The judging panel had the opportunity to meet with the teams from Kennet School, Thatcham, John O’Gaunt School, Hungerford and The Downs School, Compton. They were then joined by parents and business volunteers who came to watch the students’ presentations.

The winning team were ‘The Power of Love’ from The Kennet School in Thatcham who created a silicon wristband that converts happy energy between family members into power for their household appliances. The team were all confident presenters and worthy winners.
