WOW (World of Work) Programme of Activities
The following Enhancement Days are currently scheduled:
Sainsbury’s (Savacentre) - 8th & 9th January 2008
To provide a ‘behind the scenes’ look at retail management and all aspects of the recruitment process. Activities to include a tour of the store to gain an understanding of the different business areas and how they function.Madejski Stadium - 14th &16th January 2008
Primarily a team building day with a business slant. Activities to include learning how the stadium runs as a business (its hotel, conference and retail operations), a tour of the stadium, an IT related task and a health and fitness session with one of the Reading coaches.Sparsholt College - 5th & 13th February 2008
To discuss potential practical next steps in further education. Purpose of the day is to gain an understanding of the full range of courses and options available for the young people.Royal Marines - Date to be arranged
To look at the career potential of the armed forces and team building. Activities to include survival training in the woods, ration cooking and self defence (protective moves only).Newbury Fire Service - 30th April 2008
To learn more about the fire service and, in particular, the dangers of hoax calling and arson. Through this, the students will be made aware of the importance of accepting the consequences of an individual’s actions. Activities to include some team building tasks.The Army - Date to be arranged
Enhancement day to focus primarily on team building. Activities to include practical, hands-on problem solving tasks.
