Education Business Partnership (EBP) are pleased to announce news of three exciting new projects they have been appointed to deliver.
Firstly, EBP were successful in securing funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for Education (HEFCE) to deliver four ‘Spotlight’ programmes, one in each of the following locations; Reading, Swindon, Aylesbury and Oxford/Banbury. Spotlight programmes focus on a chosen business sector and allow young people to spend time with businesses, understand and experience work-based challenges and find out more about different career paths.
EBP Chief Executive, Michelle Smith, said, “Our Spotlight programme is proven to be a very successful way of inspiring young people, informing their career choices and motivating them to achieve at school and into Higher Education. We are delighted to have secured this funding to enable us to reach more young people across the region.”
Secondly, building on work in 2016/17 which was funded by the Careers & Enterprise Company, EBP have been appointed by UTC Swindon to source and manage work experience placements for the college’s Year 10 students. Michelle added, “We have been organising work experience placement delivery for over 20 years, placements allow young people to experience first-hand what happens in a working environment and are extremely beneficial to both the student and organisation. We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue to support UTC Swindon and provide even more of these highly valuable experiences in the area.”
Thirdly, following on from EBP’s successful ‘Destinations’ Career Fairs last year, they were successful in a competitive tender process and have been appointed by Swindon Borough Council as their partner to organise and deliver Jobfest Swindon 2018. The event will take place at STEAM museum on 6th March.
