Work Experience
Students from West Berkshire Schools all have the opportunity to have a week's work experience during the last two years of their compulsory schooling (Years 10 and 11). Although this opportunity is not career related, it gives you an invaluable insight into the general world of work, and the opportunity to learn new skills and develop your independence and self- confidence.
We also place students on 'extended' work experience which gives you one or two days per week, over an academic year, in a work environment. This is often supported by a day in college and an individual school timetable.
The number of block placements we organise annually for pre-16 year old students is 1700 with an average of 500 placements set up for post 16 year old students. In addition, last year we organised around 70 extended work placements.
We are fortunate to have around 700 active employers who are willing to take students - but we always need more!
